Welcome to the special Budget newsletter for the 2008/09 edition of VAT Memo. The relevant paragraphs in your online Memo product will also shortly be updated.

This year’s Budget was relatively uneventful from a VAT perspective. The most significant developments concern the implementation of the EU ‘VAT Package’ of changes to the place of supply of cross border services. Other changes include changes to the rules on obtaining permission to opt to tax land and buildings, and to the removal of VAT from bingo participation charges. HMRC are also in the process of preparing a taxpayer’s charter to be launched in August. This will govern HMRC’s dealings with taxpayers.

We believe you find this particular newsletter useful and informative and welcome any comments you may have as to how we can improve our service.  We look forward to receiving your emails at flm@flmemo.co.uk
